Ettinger of London is a family owned and run luxury leather goods and accessories company whose products are still hand-made by British craftsmen in the UK. It prides itself on designing and creating only the very best leather goods and was appointed a Royal Warrant holder to HRH the Prince of Wales in 1996.
Ettinger has a portfolio of over 400 products made using a variety of different leathers and in many different colourways. Many of these products can be viewed, by appointment, in the new Ettinger Showroom at their Head Offices in Putney, London SW15. Ettinger also offers a bespoke service and customers are invited to contact Ettinger London to discuss ideas.
As the number of leather goods companies manufacturing in the UK dwindles to only a handful, Ettinger is increasingly focused on encouraging and promoting the next generation of luxury craftsmanship and has linked up with the Arts & Business organisation to help work on their new "Crafted" initiative. Within this programme, Robert Ettinger is acting as a mentor and advisor, for a year, to an up-and-coming milliner, textiles and jewellery designer.
Ettinger was founded by Gerry Ettinger as a luxury leather goods and gift company in 1934. Having worked as a film producer in Italy and Germany (where he worked with Marlene Dietrich) Gerry used his extensive contacts in Europe and England to create a range of luxury gifts which became renowned throughout the UK for their quality and innovation. In the 1950s, he acquired a small leather goods manufacturing business which had been making leather goods in London since the 19th century and he used this foundation of craftsmanship and design to build the business which is Ettinger today.
In 1980 Robert entered the family business and in 1995 took over the reins from his father. Paul Ettinger, Robert's younger brother, is also a Director.
Ettinger leather goods are available in luxury stores around the world including Australia, Japan, USA, Italy, Norway, Thailand, France, Belgium and the Republic of Korea. In the UK, they are available in Fortnum & Mason, the General Trading Company (GTC), Geo F Trumper and Mitsukoshi Dorland House in London, and at Roxtons of Hungerford in Berkshire.
Ettinger products are also available to purchase on-line from the Ettinger website shop and bespoke enquiries are welcomed by contacting Ettinger and visiting their London Showroom.
