EDDIE ROSCHI and FABRICE PENOT founded the brand with the financial help of some friends in 2006. Eddie and Fabrice used to be best friends, but decided to become best business/creative partners instead as it is hard to be everything at the same time.
It's about bringing back the art of perfume making. It's about freshly hand-made perfumery. It's about making life even more wonderful for people through scents. It's about beauty, or at least a certain idea of it.
Eddie and Fabrice were developing perfume for traditional perfume brands and got really frustrated by the lack of respect for perfume creation inside the companies who industrialise / manage these brands. One day they said:
"let's stop bitching about this. let's start a little revolution."
So they left and tried one. LE LABO was born.
In the words of Eddie and Fabrice:
"well, we are obviously cruelty free, with no parabens, our packaging is recycled, we have a refill program for our perfume bottles...but all this is just because it makes sense and because Le Labo is a responsible company which is a "citizen" of the world, an extension of ourselves. "Smell good and do no harm" is the ultimate goal... but we do it because it makes sense, not to revendicate it as a marketing claim to gain some green hype or whatever...that's why we don't communicate about this. We just are...and we assume that our clients are too.
